Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Anchora™ Access Control Portal ("the Portal"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not access or use the Portal. Your continued use of the Portal following any modifications to these terms constitutes acceptance of those modifications.
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Portal, which serves as the human-governed access management layer for the Anchora™ AI-assisted professional guidance system. The Portal is designed, built, and operated by Figure 8 Intelligence ("Figure 8") and deployed in partnership with Joliet Township High School District 204 ("JTHS District 204" or "the District").
2. Eligibility and Authorization
The Portal is available exclusively to authorized staff members of JTHS District 204 and designated personnel of Figure 8 Intelligence. Access is not available to students, parents, guardians, community members, or the general public. To use the Portal, you must:
- Be a current employee or authorized contractor of JTHS District 204, or a designated representative of Figure 8 Intelligence
- Have received explicit authorization from a named human administrator through the Portal's governance process
- Have been assigned a role tier (Tier 1B Practitioner, Tier 1A Administrative, Tier 2 Cabinet, or Tier 3 Architect) appropriate to your professional responsibilities
- Maintain active employment or contractual status with the District or Figure 8 Intelligence
Authorization may be revoked at any time by a Portal administrator. Upon separation from the District or Figure 8 Intelligence, or change in role that no longer requires access, your authorization will be suspended or revoked in accordance with the Portal's governance procedures.
3. Human Governance Acknowledgment
By using the Portal and the Anchora™ system, you acknowledge and agree to the following governance principles:
Human Primacy. AI informs — humans decide. Every recommendation, output, or guidance provided by the Anchora™ GPT must be reviewed by a qualified professional before any action is taken. The AI system does not make decisions; it provides information to support human decision-making.
Professional Accountability. You are personally and professionally accountable for all actions you take based on information provided through the Anchora™ system. The system does not replace professional judgment, licensure requirements, or established policies and procedures.
Scope Boundaries. You agree to operate within the scope boundaries defined by your assigned role tier. You will not attempt to access information, guidance, or system functions outside your authorized scope.
Ethics Gate™ Compliance. All Anchora™ outputs are governed by five pillars: Human Primacy, Cultural Safety, Psychological Safety, Data Minimization, and Human Accountability. You agree to uphold these principles in your use of the system.
4. Acceptable Use
When using the Portal and any credentials issued through it, you agree to the following acceptable use requirements:
4.1 You Must:
- Use the Portal and Anchora™ system solely for legitimate professional purposes within your authorized role
- Keep your access credentials confidential and not share them with any other person
- Generate new credentials through the Portal when your current credential expires (every 12 hours)
- Report any suspected unauthorized access, credential compromise, or system misuse to a Portal administrator immediately
- Review all AI-generated recommendations with professional judgment before taking action
- Comply with all applicable policies, state laws, and federal regulations in your use of the system
4.2 You Must Not:
- Share, forward, screenshot, or otherwise distribute your Access Result String to any other person
- Attempt to use another person's credential or impersonate another user
- Attempt to modify, forge, or tamper with an Access Result String
- Attempt to bypass, circumvent, or disable any security controls, credential validation, or access restrictions
- Use the system to access information outside your authorized role tier scope
- Input student personally identifiable information (PII) into the Anchora™ GPT unless explicitly authorized by your role tier and applicable policy
- Use the system for any purpose unrelated to your authorized professional responsibilities
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the Portal's credential signing mechanisms
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Portal without explicit authorization
5. Access Credentials
The Portal issues cryptographically signed Access Result Strings that serve as your authorization credential for the Anchora™ GPT. You acknowledge and agree to the following regarding these credentials:
| Credential Property | Your Responsibility |
|---|---|
| 12-Hour Expiration | Credentials expire automatically. You must generate a new credential through the Portal when the previous one expires. Expired credentials cannot be renewed or extended. |
| Non-Transferable | Credentials are issued to you personally and are bound to your identity and role tier. You must not share or transfer them. |
| Tamper-Evident | Any modification to a credential invalidates its cryptographic signature. Submitting a modified credential will be logged as a security event. |
| Revocable | Administrators may revoke your credential at any time. Revoked credentials are immediately invalid regardless of their expiration time. |
| Audited | All credential issuance, validation, and revocation events are logged. You consent to this logging as a condition of use. |
6. Accountability Agreement
By using the Anchora™ system through credentials issued by this Portal, you explicitly agree to the following accountability framework:
Professional Responsibility. You accept full professional responsibility for any actions you take based on information, recommendations, or guidance provided by the Anchora™ GPT. The system is a decision-support tool — not a decision-maker.
Compliance Obligation. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the system complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and professional standards, including but not limited to FERPA, Illinois SOPPA, COPPA, and any applicable professional licensure requirements.
Reporting Obligation. You agree to promptly report to a Portal administrator any of the following: suspected credential compromise, unauthorized access attempts, system outputs that appear harmful or inappropriate, any use of the system that may violate applicable policy or law, and any concerns about the system's governance or safety controls.
Audit Cooperation. You agree to cooperate with any audit, investigation, or review of system access conducted by Figure 8 Intelligence or the District, including providing information about your use of the system when requested by authorized administrators.
7. Role Tier Scope Boundaries
Your access to the Anchora™ system is governed by your assigned role tier. Each tier defines the scope of guidance and information you are authorized to access. You agree to operate within your assigned tier's boundaries at all times.
| Role Tier | Scope | Boundaries |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1B — Practitioner | Classroom and student-facing guidance | Limited to individual student support within your assigned caseload or classroom. No access to district-wide policy or administrative functions. |
| Tier 1A — Administrative | Building-level administrative guidance | Includes Tier 1B scope plus building-level policy interpretation, staff coordination, and compliance guidance. No access to district-wide strategic functions. |
| Tier 2 — Cabinet | District-wide strategic guidance | Includes all lower tier scopes plus district-wide policy development, strategic planning, and cross-building coordination. |
| Tier 3 — Architect | System governance and architecture | Full system access including governance configuration, Ethics Gate™ parameters, and system architecture decisions. |
8. Monitoring and Enforcement
All Portal activity is monitored and logged for security and compliance purposes. This includes credential generation, validation attempts, administrative actions, and access pattern analysis. You consent to this monitoring as a condition of using the Portal.
Anomaly Detection. The Portal automatically monitors for unusual access patterns, including rapid credential generation, access from unexpected locations, and out-of-pattern usage. Detected anomalies are flagged for human review by a Portal administrator.
Enforcement Actions. Violations of these Terms of Use may result in immediate credential revocation, suspension of Portal access, referral to Figure 8 Intelligence and/or District administration for disciplinary action, and reporting to applicable regulatory or licensing bodies if required by law.
9. Intellectual Property
The Anchora™ name, Ethics Gate™ framework, and all associated system architecture, documentation, and governance frameworks are the intellectual property of Monica Smith and Figure 8 Intelligence. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Portal solely for your authorized professional purposes. This license does not grant you any rights to reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works based on the Portal or its underlying systems.
10. Disclaimers and Limitations
No Guarantee of Accuracy. The Anchora™ GPT provides AI-generated guidance that may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. All outputs must be verified by a qualified professional before action is taken. The Portal and its operators do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated content.
No Replacement for Professional Judgment. The Anchora™ system is a decision-support tool. It does not replace professional training, licensure, experience, or judgment. You remain fully responsible for all professional decisions.
Service Availability. The Portal is provided on an "as available" basis. While reasonable efforts are made to maintain continuous availability, the Portal may experience downtime for maintenance, updates, or unforeseen technical issues. Credential expiration timers continue to run regardless of Portal availability.
Limitation of Liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Figure 8 Intelligence, the system architect, and JTHS District 204 shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Portal or the Anchora™ system.
11. Termination
Your right to use the Portal may be terminated or suspended at any time, with or without cause, by a Portal administrator. Upon termination, all active credentials are immediately revoked, your access to the Portal is disabled, and your access logs are retained in accordance with the Privacy Policy retention schedule.
You may voluntarily cease using the Portal at any time. To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact a Portal administrator at [email protected].
12. Governing Law
These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or related to these terms or your use of the Portal shall be resolved in the courts of Will County, Illinois.
13. Changes to These Terms
These Terms of Use may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to authorized users through the Portal's dashboard. Your continued use of the Portal after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this document will always reflect the most recent revision.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms of Use is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
